3. Reasons for Revisions
With regard to consolidated operating results forecasts for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, the MGC Group expects net sales and each profit indicator to exceed previous forecasts due mainly to higher market prices for methanol and engineering plastics resulting from escalating tensions in the Middle East, along with gains on inventories. The revised forecasts also factor in the revision of assumed exchange rates based on a weaker yen.
Looking at full-year forecasts for consolidated operating results, the Group similarly anticipates that net sales and each profit indicator will exceed previous forecasts as first-half profit is expected to surpass the previous forecast.
As for full-year forecasts for non-consolidated operating results, the Group believes that net sales and each profit indicator will exceed previous forecasts in light of higher methanol market prices influenced by escalating tensions in the Middle East. Other factors supporting these revised forecasts include gains on inventories and the revision of assumed exchange rates based on a weaker yen.
The above forecasts assume exchange rates of JPY160=$1 (a depreciation of JPY5 from the previous forecast) and JPY185=€1 (a depreciation of JPY5 from the previous forecast) for the remaining months of the fiscal year.
